1) Why do you have to raise support when you minister at a camp? Don't the camper fees cover your pay?
~ Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je is in ministry to allow kids and families to come to Camp at a low cost so that price will not prevent someone from hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ! In order to keep the cost down all full time missionary staff raise their own support.
2) What do you do during the "slow" season.
~ If there is a slow season at Camp I have yet to see it! We actually do get a little slower a few weeks before and after Christmas. During the summer we have about 2700 campers come through our gates. Over the course of the year that number goes over 10,000 campers!
3) Do you work at Camp year round?
~ Yes, we stay busy with rentals, our own retreats, our Mountain Lab Schools and in the midst of all of that there is still Follow-Up to get done!
4) Do you live on Camp property?
~ Yes, currently we are trying to raise our support level to live off Camp property. This so we can invest in a home and free up a home on camp so other future staff can have a place to start out.
5) Do you get paid to be on the Fire Department?
~ No, all of what I do on the fire department is volunteer. However, after twenty years there is a small pension that they offer. This is helpful since we have to come up with our own retirement. This has been a great way to give back to the community and share Christ with those I volunteer with.
